Fixale Modelling was found in 2022 to solve many of the youth problems in South Africa. This is a modelling agency that aims to develop an individual from beginner stage to a professional model, while teaching about modelling candidates are required to join pageants in order to grow faster in the industry. “Experience is the best teacher”, therefore pageants help models to be comfortable around the camera, photographers and people. The aim is to create a unique marketing strategy and to show off the youth’s talent.

Join Fixale Modelling is free. Do your research. Explore the websites and try to choose what looks to be a reputable agency. One that does not promise too much but which demonstrates a high calibre of clients and a roster of the kind of models to whom you aspire.

Most agencies have a walk-in where you arrive at their door and will be seen by one of the bookers. If you bring any photographs they do not need to be professional. Holiday snaps are perfect because, should a reputable agency be interested in you, they will first arrange for professional, test photography to be taken and it is this that will determine whether or not they take you on. How you look in front of the camera will be the final arbiter! You will never be charged for tests unless you are taken on and then, never before you have earned sufficient money.

Be prepared to wait because most walk-ins are during half terms and holidays. Also, be prepared to be turned down because, whilst your face may be perfect to your friends and family, it may simply not be suitable for a particular agency. Usually, you will be referred to other agencies who may be better suited to your particular look.

What you must know.

The first thing every aspiring model needs to know is what their best features are and how to flaunt them. Inspect your face, free of makeup and with your hair pulled back. Gone are the days when the industry demanded strict symmetry and Eurocentric features. The concept around beauty and the process of finding the perfect model has changed significantly in the industry. What is interesting about your face? Do you have full lips? Sleepy eyes? A gap in your teeth? Any of these can be advantageous when it comes to being remembered by casting agents.

Make faces in the mirror. Practice over-the-top emoting, laughing on cue, and bending your body into interesting positions while still looking natural and comfortable. Get comfortable in heels or other shoes you don’t normally wear. You may be asked to run, jump, and even skip in heels. Learn how to move fluidly, with small movements between shutter clicks instead of completely different poses from snap to snap. Think of each session as if you are trying to create a stop-motion flip book and act for the type of personality of the brand.

How to join fixale modelling?

You must send 3 photos, full names, age and occupation to one of our agents. Fixale Modelling will send you an SMS for further requirement and date for your auditions.

One important thing to keep in mind when you are planning to start working as a model, or when you are already working with a modelling agency, is that while there are plenty of legitimate modelling agencies out there, there are plenty of scam artists trying to trick young, impressionable people who are interested in modelling.

If an agency does ask for a fee when you sign up with them or even at a later stage, you should be alarmed as it is not common practice for legitimate modelling agencies. For your safety Fixale Modelling will never ask an agent to meet you privately, no one should contact you personally for any meeting or photoshoot.

There will be occasions, once you have been taken on by an agent, when you will need test photography to enhance your portfolio. These are rarely expensive, not much more than a couple of hundred pounds. You will be, after all, be investing in your own career. Your agent will advise you.

Overall, a legitimate modelling agency should not be charging their models anything up-front. Legitimate agencies make their money once they have booked their models in modelling jobs. In other words, none of their income should come directly from their models, only from clients who want to book them.

Another very important point is that legitimate modelling agencies should never ask you to pose for nude photographs. Do not be fooled by an agency or an agent that says in order to become a model, you need to take off all your clothes. Legitimate modelling agencies will never ask you to do that. Depending on the type of modelling you are looking to get into, a legit modelling agency or agent might ask you to pose in a swimming suit or in your underwear in order to know what your body type is.

Remember to read as much about the agency as possible before you contact or visit them. The more you know about the agency, the more informed you will be about the legitimacy of the establishment. It’s important to start your modelling career with real professionals, so be careful, as not everyone is as trustworthy as they might seem.
